Firstly, making a movie requires craftsmanship from all those involved, and that, of course, includes the producer.
So it’s definitely beneficial that I myself have extensive experience in the technical side of film-making, and even today I can still be found behind the camera or at the cutting table. I am also trained as an actor and have studied economics.
Secondly, being creative helps.
Nothing really works without new ideas. Or at least, not much. Therefore the challenge lies in repeatedly coming up with something new also in future, whether it’s arts or business-related.
Thirdly, and finally, it all depends on the staging, not just of the movie itself, but also setting the stage for the movie.
The point is that it should not only be the director who can stage himself and his movie; the producer, too, should be able to stage his movie well. This sounds almost too simple, but that’s the way it is. And that’s the reason not everyone can do this – because it is so simple, or seems so simple.
RitzlFilm is an Austrian production company working on themes which are related to Austria but also of international relevance – interesting, touching and entertaining for audiences outside Austria. To achieve this goal we deliberately cooperate with filmmakers from around the globe, and enjoy the benefits offered by working with diverse project teams.
Our production company is lean, efficient and independent: we don’t make demands and so are allowed to do almost everything. We just want audiences to watch our movies and enjoy them. That’s why we make them.
